Additio App is a digital markbook and lesson planner for teachers, made by Didactic Labs in Girona, Spain. You record grades, attendance and observations, build rubrics, and plan units and lessons, and it syncs between the web and the phone and tablet apps. Additio’s site says it belongs to Seven Education, a European group that also includes Sdui, SchoolFox and Educamos. It started in Spain, where schools assess students against key competencies, and its site is also available in English, French, German and Catalan.

Who it’s for

Additio suits teachers who grade against skills or competencies and want rubrics at the center of their markbook. A Spanish secondary teacher who has to report on key competencies, or any teacher using standards-based grading, will find the structure ready for that. It also suits teachers who move between devices, for example planning on a laptop at home and taking attendance on an Android phone in class.

Schools that want a shared system can buy Additio for Schools, which adds school management, communication with students and families and collaboration between teachers. That plan is sold through Additio’s sales team.

What it does well

Rubrics and skills-based grading are the strong point. You can build a rubric, link it to the skills you assess, and score students against it in class. For a teacher marking oral presentations, scoring a rubric on a tablet while the student speaks is much faster than writing notes and converting them later.

It works on almost any device. Additio runs in a browser and has apps for iOS and Android, and the App Store listing says the mobile apps work offline and sync when you reconnect. That makes it one of the few full markbooks you can use on a Windows laptop and an Android phone at the same time.

Planning sits next to grading. Additio’s plans include didactic units and projects, so you can plan a unit and its lessons in the same app where you grade them. Additio says it integrates with Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams and Moodle, covering importing students, grades and assignments. If your school already uses one of those platforms, check how the import works for your setup before you commit, and see our guide to cutting marking time with apps for ways to combine them.

Where it falls short

There is no free plan for teachers. The app is free to download, but the App Store listing says you need a paid license to use its features. The FAQ on Additio’s plans page also says it can’t give refunds once you have paid, so take your time testing before you buy.

The AI features cost extra. AI-generated rubrics, AI lesson planning and the AI chat assistant are part of Teachers Pro AI, which costs about twice as much as the standard plan.

With over 150 features, according to Additio, the app takes time to set up. Creating skills, rubrics and weightings for several classes is an afternoon’s work, and the app makes most sense once that structure is in place. Teachers who only want a simple diary and a list of marks may prefer a lighter tool.

Additio’s English pages use Spanish education terms such as “didactic units,” which can read oddly to teachers in other countries.

Pricing

Additio sells two plans to individual teachers, both billed yearly. When we checked Additio’s plans page in November 2026, Teachers Standard cost 13.99 euros per year and Teachers Pro AI cost 29.99 euros per year, both including VAT. Both renew automatically unless you cancel, and cancelling keeps access until the end of the paid period. App Store prices in other currencies differ. Additio quotes prices for Additio for Schools on request.

Privacy and data

Additio’s security and privacy page says it complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation and Spain’s data protection law, Organic Law 3/2018, and that it acts as a data processor for schools and teachers. It says it hosts data in European Union data centers, using Hetzner in Germany and Amazon Web Services, and that it doesn’t sell data or use it with third parties for other purposes. According to the same page, only teachers and schools can access the teacher and student information entered in the app. Data from cancelled accounts stays for 15 months as a safeguard against loss, and users can ask for full deletion. The page names no security certifications, so schools that need one should ask. Our student data privacy checklist lists other questions to raise.

Verdict

Additio is a strong, affordable markbook for teachers who grade with rubrics and skills, especially if you work across Windows, Android and Apple devices. Test it carefully before paying, because there is no free plan and no refund. If you teach only on an iPad and want a one-time purchase with your data kept on the device, iDoceo is the better fit, and our teacher planner rankings list other options.
