Bloomz is a school communication app from Bloomz Inc. that started as a way for teachers to message families and has grown into a platform for whole schools and districts. A teacher can post class updates, send messages, run conference sign-ups and ask for volunteers. A district can add alerts, attendance notices, newsletters and, on its top tier, tools for dismissal, visitors and the school clinic. It is used mainly in US schools, from preschool through high school.
Who it’s for
The free plan suits a single elementary teacher who wants class updates, photos and conference sign-ups in one app. A second grade teacher can post photos from the pumpkin patch trip, send a reminder about picture day, and let families book a parent-teacher conference slot without a paper sign-up sheet going home in backpacks.
The paid tiers are for schools and districts that want every teacher, the front office and the district office on one system. Bloomz sells to public, charter and private schools, and it also lists district pre-K and Head Start programs among its customers. If your district already pays for ParentSquare or another platform, stick with that one, because two messaging systems confuse families more than they help.
What it does well
Bloomz publishes its prices, which most school messaging vendors don’t. A business manager can work out a rough budget from the pricing page before calling sales, which saves a round of quotes.
Translation is built into every tier. Bloomz says it translates into more than 250 languages, and its pricing page says every tier is fully translated. On the free teacher plan, translation covers posts and announcements but not private messages, according to Bloomz’s help center, so a teacher with many families who speak other languages will want a paid plan.
Messages reach families by app, email, text and voice. A principal sending a snow-day alert can be fairly sure it reaches the family whose phone has no data plan, because the alert also goes out as a text and a phone call.
Sign-ups are the part teachers tend to like most. Conference scheduling, volunteer requests and RSVPs sit in the same app as messages, so a class party, a field trip and fall conferences don’t each need a separate tool.
The paid tiers cover more of the school day. Premium adds automated attendance and grade notices, forms with e-signatures and secure delivery of report cards. Complete adds behavior and recognition tracking, school websites and two-way calling through school phone numbers. For a district trying to retire a robocall system and a separate forms tool, that consolidation is the reason to look at Bloomz.
Where it falls short
The free plan is small. Bloomz’s help center lists one class, 30 students and 60 parents per class, with one co-teacher. A middle school teacher with five sections will outgrow it on the first day. The individual Teacher Premium plan raises that to three classes of 50 students.
Free teacher accounts show classroom sponsorships. Bloomz’s help center says sponsors pay for the free offering, that sponsors can’t target families, and that students never see sponsor content. Teachers can switch sponsorships off in account settings, but Bloomz says doing so cuts storage to 125 items. Bloomz’s security page also says “no ads, ever”, so ask which of these applies to the plan your school would use.
The top tiers do a lot. The 360 tier covers visitor management, a clinic and medication log, athletics, anonymous safety reporting and AI tools. That breadth means more setup, more training and more places for permissions to go wrong. Many schools only need the Essentials tier, so resist paying for modules nobody has time to roll out.
Pricing
Bloomz has a free Teacher plan, and its App Store listing shows Teacher Premium at $124.99 a year. For schools and districts, Bloomz’s pricing page lists four tiers per student per year: Essentials at $3, Premium at $5, Complete at $7 and 360 at $11. Payments, an admissions CRM and a staff coaching tool are add-ons, and Bloomz says annual minimums apply for smaller schools. We checked these prices in November 2026. Our guide to the total cost of school software covers the costs that don’t appear on a pricing page, such as training time.
Privacy and data
Bloomz’s security page says it has no ads and no data sales, and it describes Bloomz as a school official under FERPA, with COPPA obligations written into its contracts. It says regional, in-country hosting is available where residency rules require it, and it publishes a WCAG 2.1 accessibility conformance report. The page doesn’t name its hosting provider, and we couldn’t find a statement on whether student data is used to train its AI features. Ask about both before you sign, using our student data privacy checklist.
Verdict
Bloomz is a sound choice for a US school that wants class messaging, sign-ups and alerts in one app and likes knowing the price up front. The free plan works for one elementary class, but the sponsorship content and one-class limit make it a trial more than a long-term home. Teachers who want free messaging across several sections should look at Remind, and elementary teachers who also want behavior points may prefer ClassDojo.
