Acadeu is a school management system built in Buenos Aires for Argentine schools. Two computer engineers from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Mauro Ciancio and Norberto Yoan, started it in 2013, and Educaria, the Spanish company behind Alexia, bought it in 2022. It covers the work of the school office: student records, attendance, grades, report cards, official documents and fee collection. Families get a web portal and a mobile app where they see grades, notices and what they owe.
Who it’s for
Acadeu suits Argentine schools that want office records and family communication in one system, especially schools that bill families each month. It covers nivel inicial, primario and secundario, so a school with all three levels can run them from one account. The homepage says more than 300 schools in Argentina use it.
The daily routine it is built around will be familiar. A preceptor takes attendance, a teacher loads exam dates and grades, families get a notification, and at the end of the term the office prints boletines without retyping anything. If you mainly want a messaging app for families, see the other options in our parent communication rankings.
What it does well
Official paperwork is the strongest part. Acadeu generates boletines, actas volante, constancias de alumno regular and attendance certificates in digital and printable form, from the grades and attendance that staff have already entered.
Acadeu lets staff check information before it is published. A head of level can look over a set of grades or a notice before it reaches families’ phones, which stops a wrong mark from turning into an angry phone call. Roles and permissions split the work, so preceptors handle attendance, teachers handle evaluations and grades, and the office handles fees.
Each level gets its own tools. For nivel inicial there are evaluation reports with a format the school can customise and a register of the adults allowed to collect each child. For primario and secundario there are exam tables for each period, attendance that follows the school’s own rules, and a conduct record for sanctions and achievements.
On the money side, Acadeu calculates fees, tracks debt, sends automatic reminders and keeps an account for each family. The homepage mentions electronic invoicing, and the FAQ says families can pay by electronic methods. A form builder covers surveys, permission slips and orders.
Where it falls short
The family app has a poor reputation. In November 2026 the Acadeu iOS app averaged 1.5 out of 5 from about 1,100 ratings in Argentina’s App Store, and its last update was in August 2025. Some complaints will be about how schools use it, but the score is a warning. Ask for a test family account and try it on a parent’s phone before you sign.
The website is light on detail. It doesn’t name the virtual classroom it integrates with, list the payment methods, or explain how invoicing works with ARCA (the tax agency formerly called AFIP). If your teachers use Google Classroom, ask exactly what the integration does. The demo uses a standard setup, and Acadeu only configures it for your school after you sign, so you judge it with generic data.
Read the licence before you commit. Educaria can end the contract without cause on 30 days’ notice. Price is tied to enrolment, and if your numbers fall more than 10%, the licence lets Educaria bill on enrolment from any of the previous 12 months, so a shrinking school may keep paying for students it no longer has. Educaria’s liability is limited to direct damage.
Pricing
Acadeu doesn’t publish prices. The FAQ says schools pay a monthly fee under annual terms, and the licence links the amount to enrolment. Acadeu offers a free, time-limited demo. Ask for a written quote that covers payment processing and any setup work, and compare the total over three years using our guide to the total cost of school software.
Privacy and data
The terms and privacy policy, version 2.2 dated February 2026, name Educaria en Argentina S.A. as the operator. Educaria says the platform complies with Argentina’s personal data law, Ley 25.326, and that it processes personal data on the school’s behalf. The school must get permission from a parent or guardian for each minor, and families who want to see their data must ask the school, not Educaria.
The homepage says data is encrypted and backed up. The licence says the data may sit on a server outside Argentina, and it doesn’t name the provider or the country. After the contract ends, the school has 15 days to download its information before Educaria deletes it, and the licence says Educaria doesn’t guarantee you can download all of it. We found no security certification on Acadeu’s site. Ask where the data is hosted and get the export format in writing. Our student data privacy checklist lists the other questions to ask.
Verdict
Acadeu covers the paperwork of an Argentine school well, from attendance to boletines and fees, and the review step before publishing is a practical safeguard. The weak family app, the vague hosting terms and the short exit window are real risks, so test the app with parents and negotiate the contract. Schools that mainly need family messaging, or that want stronger data terms, should compare other systems first.
