Alexia is a school management suite made by Educaria, a company based in Madrid. It runs the office side of a school (enrolment, student records, official documents, billing and accounting) and adds a family app, a teacher gradebook, a learning platform called Alexia Classroom and an AI assistant called AlexIA. Educaria says more than 1,400 schools in Spain use it, across all autonomous communities and school stages, and it markets the suite to school groups that want the same processes in every centre.
Who it’s for
Alexia fits a Spanish school, or a network of schools, that wants one system for the secretaría, the finance office, teachers and families. A concertado school that bills families for comedor, transport and extracurricular activities, files official records with its consejería, and sends report cards home will find all of that work in one place. Educaria also markets it to schools running IB programmes (PEP, PAI and Diploma) and to vocational training (FP) centres, which have their own course structures and paperwork.
Large networks are a good match. Spain’s Ministry of Education picked Alexia in a public tender for its schools abroad, with 18 state schools and 14 ALCE language centres in 12 countries starting in the 2021-2022 year.
A small private academy that only needs to message families, or a teacher looking for a personal gradebook, will find Alexia far more than they need. iDoceo or Additio cover the teacher side on their own.
What it does well
Alexia’s main strength is that the office work and the classroom work share one database. The secretaría enrols a student online, and the student then appears in the teacher’s gradebook, the timetable, the family app and the billing module without anyone retyping data. Educaria lists online enrolment, transport and comedor, extracurricular activities, official documents and the connection to regional education platforms among its core processes. That last item saves a secretary days of retyping marks in June.
The finance side goes further than most school platforms. Alexia includes billing and sales, an online shop for things like uniforms or books, and full accounting, so a school can run its accounts in the same system instead of exporting to separate software.
Alexia Familia, the app for parents, is on the App Store and Google Play. Parents get a notification when the school posts something about their child and can reply from the app. They can also sign up for comedor and extracurricular activities and check menus.
AlexIA, the AI assistant, writes drafts of family messages, observations, rubrics and translations, summarises documents and meetings, and checks data. Educaria says it runs validation checks on more than 150 processes, such as catching missing marks before report cards go out. In a school office the checking matters more than the drafting.
Integrations cover Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Apple School Manager, timetable generators, digital signature services and other learning platforms, and Educaria offers APIs for custom links.
Where it falls short
Alexia is a big system, and a school needs a secretaría and a coordinator who learn it properly. Plan for a full term of setup and training before the start of a school year, not a switch-over in September. Our guide to choosing a student information system covers what to test in a demo.
The teacher app is in transition. Educaria launched Alexia Docentes in mid-2026 to bring attendance, the gradebook, family interviews and messages into one app. At launch it ran on Chromebooks and tablets, with phone support described as coming soon. The older Alexia Aula app is still in the stores. Ask which app your teachers will use and whether it works on their phones.
Educaria’s website says little about security or hosting, so you have to ask for those details.
Pricing
Educaria does not publish prices. Pricing is quoted per school, and the website asks schools to request a demo. Ask for each module’s price in writing, including accounting, the online shop and AlexIA, and ask about payment gateway fees on online charges to families.
Privacy and data
Educaria’s data protection page says that for the Alexia platform it acts as a data processor (encargado del tratamiento) and each school is the controller, and that its staff only access school data when the contracted service requires it. It says it does not pass data to third parties unless the law requires it. The page does not say where data is hosted, whether data leaves the EU, or how long data is kept after a contract ends. It also does not address children’s data specifically.
Educaria’s quality policy refers to ISO 9001. Its website does not mention ISO 27001 or the Esquema Nacional de Seguridad. The AlexIA page says the assistant protects data and complies with regulations but does not name the AI provider or say whether school data is used to train models. Ask for the processing contract, hosting region, subprocessor list and any security certificates before signing, and use our student data privacy checklist to cover the rest.
Verdict
Alexia is a solid choice for Spanish concertado and private schools, and school groups, that want secretaría, billing, accounting, family communication and the gradebook in one system with links to the consejerías. Get the security documents and the teacher app roadmap in writing before you commit. Schools that only need family messaging should look at a lighter app in our parent communication rankings.
