Curipod is a platform for live, teacher-led lessons with built-in AI writing feedback. The teacher runs a slide lesson from the front of the room, students join on their own devices, and at set points they answer a question, get feedback from the AI on what they wrote and try again. It started as a general interactive lesson builder and now focuses on reading and writing practice in US K-12 schools, with lessons mapped to state tests and adopted English curricula.

Who it’s for

Curipod suits upper primary and secondary teachers who want students writing more often in class, not only in homework. A Grade 7 ELA teacher can run a 40-minute lesson where every student writes a claim with evidence, reads specific feedback, talks about a strong example on the board and revises before the bell. It also suits US districts preparing students for state writing tests, since Curipod has test practice libraries and lessons aligned to curricula such as HMH Into Reading, Amplify CKLA and Bluebonnet.

For a teacher who wants a quick quiz game, Kahoot or Blooket is simpler. Schools outside the US can use Curipod, but much of the paid content targets US standards and tests.

What it does well

The lesson loop is well designed. Curipod’s AI Feedback activity gives each student one round of feedback on their response, then the lesson moves to discussion and a second attempt. Students do not chat with the AI. Curipod describes every AI interaction as teacher-started and limited to one exchange at a time, which is easier to defend to parents than an open chatbot.

You keep control while it runs. The Moderation Tool shows responses in real time, lets you flag one before the class sees it and highlights students who need help. Students get anonymous nicknames by default.

Building a lesson is quick. Curipod suggests lessons from your state, subject and grade, and you can generate one with slides and writing activities from a few choices. The Curify My Slides option takes a PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Slides or PDF and adds checks for understanding through it. Activity types include short answer with peer voting, AI feedback, drawing with an AI whiteboard that comments on sketches, multiple choice, polls and word clouds.

Joining is simple. Students go to curi.live and type a pin, or scan a QR code on a tablet. Nobody makes an account, which removes a whole step from the first lesson with a new class.

Where it falls short

The free plan is a taster. It includes weekly writing sessions that renew each week, limited practice content and student responses up to 1,000 characters. Custom rubrics, paste blocking, writing reports, PDF lesson downloads and the full test prep library are paid features.

AI feedback is only as good as the rubric behind it. Test the feedback on a few sample answers before the lesson, as Curipod’s own help suggests. A rubric that rewards structure can praise a well-organised paragraph with a weak argument.

The product depends on live lessons. Every student needs a device and a working connection at the same moment, and a slow school network will stall a class of 30. Absent students miss the discussion, and the PDF backup for them is a paid feature.

Pricing

Curipod has a Free plan for individual teachers, checked in November 2026, with weekly writing sessions, unlimited student writers and limited content. School and District plans are priced by quote and add unlimited sessions and content, custom rubrics, writing reports, paste blocking, text-to-speech, shared lesson folders and data privacy agreements. SSO through ClassLink, Clever and Google is district only. An ELA Curriculum Alignment plan, also by quote, maps writing tasks to a district’s adopted curriculum. Schools under 200 students can ask for a small school price.

Privacy and data

Curipod’s privacy policy, effective 30 September 2026, says students do not have accounts. For students it stores responses and optional names in the teacher’s account, plus IP addresses for up to three weeks to prevent abuse. It says teacher and student data is stored in the United States, and that EU customers can ask for EU storage.

Curipod says it does not use teacher or student data to train AI models, that its model providers do not train on it, and that account details such as email and school name are not sent in prompts. It publishes the models it uses, from OpenAI, Google and ElevenLabs. It says it complies with FERPA, COPPA and GDPR, acts as a school official under FERPA and shows no personalised ads. One point to note is that the policy allows Curipod to use teacher email addresses for lookalike advertising audiences on platforms such as Meta, Google and TikTok, with EU users opted out by default and others able to opt out by email. Ask for the DPA and check it against our student data privacy checklist.

Verdict

Curipod is a strong choice for US teachers and districts who want more in-class writing with fast, structured feedback, and its no-chatbot design is easier to fit into a cautious AI policy. The free plan shows how it works, but regular use needs a school plan. Schools that want general quiz games, or that teach outside the US curriculum and test system, should look at other AI tools first.
