Fedena is a school management system from Foradian Technologies, a company based in Bengaluru. It runs in the browser and covers the office side of a school, such as admissions, fees, HR and payroll, along with the academic side, including attendance, timetables, exams and gradebooks. Foradian says Fedena works with CBSE, ICSE, state boards and IB, and it sells to schools, colleges and coaching centres. Unlike most Indian school ERPs, it publishes its prices.
Who it’s for
Fedena fits small and mid-sized private schools in India that want one system for the office and the staffroom without a long sales process. A single-campus school with a fee clerk and thirty teachers can see the price, book a demo and go live within a term. Groups with several schools can use the multi-school dashboard that Foradian describes in its FAQ.
If you are comparing Indian systems, our student information system rankings list others, and Teachmint is the closest alternative if you want a free teacher app alongside the ERP.
What it does well
The module list is long. The main ones a school office needs are there: student admission, fee management with online payment gateways, exams and gradebook, timetable and attendance, HR and payroll, and bulk data import. The FAQ says historical data stays in place when the academic year rolls over, so last year’s marks and fee records are still there when a parent queries them in June.
Integrations cover the hardware Indian schools already own. Fedena lists biometric attendance devices, GPS bus tracking, payment gateways, Tally for accounts, and video tools such as Google Meet, Zoom and BigBlueButton for online classes.
The mobile app works for every role. Admins see reports, fees and approvals, teachers mark attendance and fill in the gradebook, parents check homework and results and pay fees, and students see their timetable and exam schedule. One parent login can cover several children. Foradian offers institution-branded apps, so the app in the store can carry your school’s name.
Onboarding is included. Every paid plan lists one-to-one online training and help with importing data and configuring the system, and the FAQ says implementation has no extra cost.
Where it falls short
Fedena started as an open-source project, and that history causes confusion. Foradian’s FAQ still says the basic version is open source and free. The public code is the old community edition, and in 2020 the security firm Pentest found seven vulnerabilities in it, including an authentication bypass that could let an attacker take over any account (CVE-2021-27980). Pentest said the open-source project had been inactive for years and advised schools to take it off the internet. The research covered version 2.3 of the open-source code, not Foradian’s hosted product. Still, if a vendor or a local IT contractor offers to install “free Fedena” on a school server, say no.
The pricing page shows only the web app prices. A toggle offers “Both Web & Mobile App” but does not show what that costs, so ask for the mobile price in writing.
The website is inconsistent in places. The homepage mentions both “50+” and “100+” modules, and the pricing page lists 22 core modules under a heading that says 20. Confirm in a demo that each module you need is in your plan.
Pricing
Foradian publishes yearly prices. When we checked in November 2026, the Standard plan cost $999 a year, Premium $1,399 and Ultimate $1,699, with an Enterprise plan quoted on request. The page shows a dollar sign without naming the currency, so confirm the currency and tax before you budget. All three listed plans include unlimited users, cloud hosting, automatic updates, email and phone support, and onboarding. Enterprise adds access to the product source code. There is a 14-day demo account rather than a free plan. Our guide to the total cost of school software covers the costs that sit outside the licence.
Privacy and data
This is Fedena’s weakest area. Its privacy policy says it was last updated on 24 May 2018. It covers website visitors’ names, emails and cookies, and does not mention student data, children or parental consent. It also does not mention India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act. The policy says Foradian does not sell, trade or rent personal identification information, but it may share aggregated demographic data with business partners and advertisers. It says Foradian may keep data from inactive accounts for up to 24 months. It does not say where data is hosted or what happens to a school’s data when its contract ends.
Foradian’s FAQ says data is encrypted when stored and that backups are kept. The site lists no security certifications. Before you sign, ask Foradian for a data processing agreement that covers student records, the hosting location, and deletion at the end of the contract. Our student data privacy checklist lists the other questions to ask.
Verdict
Fedena is a sensible, affordable ERP for a small or mid-sized Indian private school that wants published prices and broad modules, and has no budget for a long implementation. The out-of-date privacy policy is a real gap, so close it in your contract. Schools that need strong documented data protection, or large groups that want a vendor with a bigger local support team, should compare it with other systems in our student information rankings.
