Wooclap is a Belgian audience response tool. A teacher builds an “event” of questions, students join from a phone or laptop with a code, and the answers appear live on the screen. It goes further than a basic polling app, with matching, image questions, brainstorming and live quizzes alongside the usual multiple choice and word clouds. Its customers include universities and corporate trainers, and school teachers in France and Belgium can use it for free.

Who it’s for

Wooclap fits lecturers, college teachers and upper secondary teachers who run question-heavy sessions with large groups. A biology lecturer with 200 students can put a labelled diagram on screen, ask students to click the mitochondria, and see where everyone clicked. It also suits schools in France and Belgium, where its free teacher licence makes it an easy choice.

For a primary class, or a teacher who mainly wants a fun review game, it is more than you need. Kahoot! or Blooket are more fun for younger students.

What it does well

The range of question types is the main reason to choose it. Wooclap lists more than 20, including matching, image-based questions where students click on part of a picture, brainstorming and open questions, as well as polls, multiple choice and word clouds. That lets a languages teacher run a matching activity and a geography teacher ask students to find a location on a map, in the same tool.

It works inside the slides you already use. There are add-ins for PowerPoint and Google Slides, and integrations with Microsoft Teams and Zoom, so you can keep teaching from your deck and switch to a question without changing windows. That matters for a lecturer who has spent years refining a set of slides.

Wooclap’s AI tools can suggest a question format and generate questions from your own materials, such as lecture notes or a PDF. As with any AI question generator, read the output before you put it in front of a class.

Students can also work through activities at their own pace on the paid plans, which helps for revision before an exam. The company also makes Wooflash, a separate micro-learning product for revision.

Where it falls short

The free Starter plan is too small for regular teaching outside France and Belgium. Wooclap’s help centre says it allows up to five active questions per 30 days, and Starter users can view results but not download them. That’s enough to try it in one lesson, not enough for a term.

Wooclap doesn’t show prices for its paid plans. The education pricing page lists Basic and Pro as priced per presenter and billed annually, but when we checked it in November 2026 it didn’t show the amounts. A teacher can’t compare costs from the page alone.

It was built for lecture halls. The design and wording assume a presenter and an audience, and there is less here for homework, per-student tracking over a term, or the game features that keep younger students engaged. LMS integration with Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard and Brightspace is only on the institutional plan, so a single teacher can’t send scores to the gradebook.

Students need a working device and a connection. In a school with patchy Wi-Fi, a lesson built around a 20-question event can stall.

Pricing

Wooclap is freemium. The Starter plan is free with up to five active questions per 30 days. Basic adds unlimited questions, self-paced questionnaires and exports. Pro adds the AI tools, team collaboration, a theme editor and a moderator view. Campus plans for institutions start at six presenters and add LMS integration, single sign-on, an admin dashboard and dedicated support. All plans allow up to 1,000 participants per event, and subscriptions are billed annually. Paid plan prices were not shown on the pricing page in November 2026, so expect a quote for anything beyond one teacher.

Primary and secondary school teachers in France and Belgium can get free, unlimited access to all features except Wooclap AI and the LMS and SSO integrations. They sign up with a professional email address and confirm their role and country.

Privacy and data

Wooclap’s trust centre says it has held ISO 27001:2022 certification since 2024, complies with GDPR, and is audited every year. Customers can choose hosting in Paris, France, or Oregon, USA. Wooclap says it will never sell your data and never uses customer data to train AI models, and that users can switch off the AI features. Its AI policy says it does not use user-generated content or personal data to train AI models and does not intend to. Wooclap’s GDPR page notes that some subcontractors host data outside Europe, so schools with strict data residency rules should ask for the current subprocessor list. Our student data privacy checklist covers the other questions to ask.

Verdict

Wooclap is a capable live question tool with more question types than most rivals and a documented security certification, and it is the obvious pick for school teachers in France and Belgium. Elsewhere, the small free plan and hidden prices make it harder to try for an individual teacher. Schools that want game-style review or per-student tracking should look at Kahoot! or the rest of our assessment rankings.
